If there's one thing that A.A. Bondy radiates in his music and his live performances, it's personality. Fresh off a tour with Cold War Kids, he was in full force last Tuesday here in Boston. As he played through songs from his debut solo album, there was a certain sincerity about him that just made me smile. A minute or so into his first song, he paused and mumbled something about not remembering the words before jumping back in where he left off. And for Bondy's performance and music, little things like that fit just right. His banter throughout the night was fun and obscure, sometimes leaving the audience squinting trying to understand exactly what he meant. "If I seem insane up here, it's okay. I am." No worries, it was definitely okay with the audience. With his personality strongly permeating into a soul-wrenching folk performance, A.A. Bondy left me with a memorable night.
