If there is one band that embodies everything that is good about music, it is Talkdemonic. There are just two people on stage (Kevin O’Connor and Lisa Molinaro) and they hail from Portland, Oregon --but packed in their suitcases is an equilibrium of logicality and outright chaos, beauty and disaster, delicacy and domination. Their energy was clearly a musical objection to the gods of rock that they were worthy. And they are. With hip-hop beats, video game melodies, along with seductive (sometimes folksy) strings, they walk the fine line of familiarity with the old and the lustfully violent actions of the new and unknown. The paradox of past vs. future defied the laws of nature and enthralled me with an intoxicating, vibrating present (definitely not to be confused with clarity). This suspended moment filled the small room with amplified emotions and a road map to reverie. Don't miss this band.
