Last Sunday night, Citay brought their infectious energy to the Middle East Upstairs in Boston. The band's lineup is fairly fleshed out these days, featuring six musicians. It's a good thing that this is the case, because they would never otherwise be able to reproduce the magnificent layered sound that defines Citay's music. When they have all three guitars playing similar lines, harmonizing with each other and strongly grooving, it creates a dense, impressive sound. The band not only sounded great, but they looked energized and happy to be making music. One guitarist was especially into the music, and his energy was simply incredible. Throughout the whole set, the members of the band were looking at each other and smiling, enjoying their performance. When you can connect with the band like that as an audience member, it makes for a highly enjoyable show -- which is just what Citay's performance was.Citay - First Fantasy (from Little Kingdom)
