The Simpsons

Back in the day, I was obsessed with The Simpsons. When I was but a youngster growing up, the show was reaching its peak, and I'm happy to say that Homer Simpson and company helped raise me. Maybe I shouldn't proclaim this fact so proudly, but it's true. As an obsessive-compulsive youngun, I recorded every show and attempted to create a commercial-free archive of every episode every aired. This was, of course, before the days of DVDs, and all my work would be unnecessary in a few years. But hey, it gave me something to do. Now, many years later, I still enjoy the show. I'm not crazy about the newer episodes -- I'd say they lost their spark somewhere around the 13th season. But I still dig the classics.

Below, you'll find variations on The Simpsons end credit theme, culled from the first ten glorious seasons. These come from two CDs compiling music from the show, The Simpsons: Songs In The Key Of Springfield and Go Simpsonic With The Simpsons. If you're as obsessive-compulsive as I am about one of the best cartoons ever, you'll enjoy listening through to classics such as the Stonecutters' song or Homer's barbershop quartet or "Who Needs The Kwik-E-Mart" or the Monorail song. Really, they burst into song more often than you'd think. Anywho, here are some of the best renditions of the end credit theme. My personal favorite is the Sonic Youth one. You know, from Homerpalooza? Aw yeah.
