Here's the latest news from the Apollo Sunshine camp: they've got a new album coming out at the end of the summer called Shall Noise Upon. It occurred to me that I had yet to feature them, so I figured this was the perfect occasion. Shall Noise Upon will be their third studio album, and it will join an already great discography. Their first, 2003's Katonah, remains my favorite -- it's full of immensely intricate layers of sounds, all weaving together to form an incredibly compelling rock album. Their second album, Apollo Sunshine, is also excellent, and I'm hoping that the pattern continues this September when Shall Noise Upon is released. They've just released the first single from the album, called "666: The Coming Of The New World Government", and I have to say -- I'm not thrilled by the song, but I always wait to make full judgments until I've heard the whole album. We'll see. Check out that new single along with some older tunes below.Shall Noise Upon will be released on August 5th (vinyl and digital only) and September 2nd (full release) via Headless Hereos.

thank you so much for posting this! it's an interesting single...it makes sense for them as a band- they seem to have been moving more and more towards this pseudo-psyschadelic & beatles-esque sound for a while.
traveling across the country in a grease-powered tour bus must do that. i, like you, anxiously await the release of the album.
it's taken a long time for this album to get finished considering i first heard this song, amongst 4 or 5 others live 3 years ago. that said, i really liked the song then, and i still really like it now. expect the album to not only have the psychedelic flavor of this song, but also to be very groove based. they added a percussionist last time i saw them and it seemed like the songs were without the insane feel changes of the early songs. they were almost channeling "remain in light" era talking heads, but less punk and more beatles
I completly agree with you on their evolution. Katonah is brilliant but I am not expecting the new album to blow me away but nonetheless I anticipate it eagerly. Their live show however is great, saw them 3 times in small NH halls and it was wonderful.
