The Hold Steady (Have A New Record)

My initial thoughts on the Hold Steady were less than stellar -- when Separation Sunday came out in 2005, I listened through and thought nothing of it. But this year I gave them some more spinning time, and somewhere between being hooked on "Chips Ahoy!" (from Boys And Girls In America) and the lyrics to "Hornets! Hornets!" (from Separation Sunday), I became a fan. So I have been eagerly waiting to hear their latest record, Stay Positive. Well, here we are, a good six weeks before the album's release, and it has leaked. What can you expect from the new record? More of the same, more of what the Hold Steady are great at. They're not reinventing themselves, but what they've got seems to be working quite well for them. To me, Stay Positive captures the Hold Steady's vibrancy as good as any of their last three records, more or less. The album doesn't intensely expand any creative boundaries, it's not going to be the best album of the year, but it's an enjoyable listen throughout, just like Boys And Girls In America and Separation Sunday. Hey, at least they're consistent.Stay Positive will be released July 15th via Vagrant Records.

Hahaha, nailed again
I think that's remarkably civilised for a takedown notice, actually - I especially like the 'please excuse this required formality.'
