French Public Radio Network station France Inter has a feature called "Black Sessions," where they invite bands and musicians to perform for a live radio broadcast. Since it's inception in 1992, many alternative and indie bands have performed on the show, including the National, who played both in 2003 and 2005. After the release of two absolutely phenomenal albums, Alligator and Boxer, the National have quickly crept into being one of my favorite bands of all time. As I continue to devour everything the band has ever done, I thought I should share this live set. Here, in its entirety, is the National's 2005 Black Session. And speaking of the National, they have a documentary chronicling the making of Boxer coming out May 20th. It's called A Skin, A Night, and you can see the preview here.
