I've been digging the work of Eels for about five years now, which is less than half of the time that they've been around. The first album that really captured me was Electro-shock Blues, which is perhaps Eels magnum opus. Not to say they haven't had more great records, but that one in particular always captivated me. It's so emotionally moving and powerful, and only becomes more meaningful upon learning that much of the lyrics focus on E's (Eels' frontman) sister's suicide in a mental institution. Heavy stuff. This all being said, Eels have other great albums as well. And today marks the release of two more Eels records -- although not traditional albums. On shelves today we have Useless Trinkets: B-Sides, Soundtracks, Rarities, and Unreleased 1996-2007 and Meet The Eels: Essential Eels 1996-2007, both of which have self-explanatory titles. The two songs I'm posting below both appear on Essential Eels. If you've somehow missed them in the last 12 (!) years, it's a good place to start.Eels - Novocaine For The Soul (from Beautiful Freak)
Eels - I'm Going To Stop Pretending That I Didn't Break Your Heart (from Blinking Lights And Other Revelations)

Hm there must be something wrong with my computer because it's still downloading the files as if they were corrupted Quicktime files. Oh well, atleast I still have the pictures and words.
After you download them, make sure the file name ends in .mp3, and see if that solves the problem...
