Live: Spoon and Cold War Kids

Tuesday night saw a mish-mash of styles going down at the Orpheum Theatre for WFNX's "Miracle On Tremont Street" concert. Following Mute Math's synth-rock antic-ridden set and Against Me's straight forward punk rock, we were treated to Cold War Kids and Spoon. I enjoyed Cold War Kids, as I have in the past, but I longed for a more intimate setting. Many of the band's subtle live nuances were lost in the enormous stage and over-done lighting. While the music we heard was unaffected, the lighting made it very hard to see their faces throughout most of the set. Nevertheless, the energy was high and the performance was rocking. The best show of the night, however, goes to Spoon. The band had a very full, powerful sound, and Britt Daniel is is immensely captivating frontman. He has so much energy, and he plays the guitar like a madman. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for the rest of the band. Collectively, the other three members are seriously lacking in enthusiasm and energy. But hey, it sounded great, and I just watched Britt most of the time.I was too far away to really get any good photos, but I did take one video, which is below.
Spoon - Don't Make Me A Target (from Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga)
Spoon - Don't You Evah (from Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga)
Cold War Kids - We Used To Vacation (from Robbers And Cowards)
Cold War Kids - Hang Me Up To Dry (from Robbers And Cowards)
Spoon - The Underdog
