Jon Brion is at the top of the music industry. He's a very successful composer, having scored for numerous memorable films, including Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind, Punch-Drunk Love, Magnolia, and I Heart Huckabees. It's no coincidence that two of these movies happen to be all-time favorites of mine. Having well-scored music adds so much to a film, and it's a double whammy when the music is as wonderful as Brion's is. I listen to his scores all the time, just as if it was an album. In addition to his film work, Brion also has a very successful career as a producer, having worked in the past for Fiona Apple, Spoon, and others. Not to mention he's a wonderful performer and pop songwriter. How many different facets can a man have? Jon Brion shows that he can keep his balancing act up quite successfully, and I'll keep checking out everything that has his name attached to it.Jon Brion - Theme (from Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind)

JB also produced Kanye's "Late Registration" as well as that record by the Wallflowers in which he plays slide guitar on "Sixth Avenue Heartache." The man has been around the block a few times...
He was supposed to do more work with Elliott Smith, with whom he was close at one point (they had a few performances together) but Elliott's label, Dreamworks, put the kibosh on the idea, much to the chagrin of... well... everyone who loves music.
Not sure if he still does but historically he would play Club Largo in LA every week or so.
I just watched Magnolia (my personal favorite movie ever) and his soundtrack to that is so incredible. It's very unlike the stuff in Eternal Sunshine and Punch Drunk in that it's far more orchestral. However, it really sets the brooding, building mood of that film so perfectly, and it's just another reason why Jon Brion is the fucking man
